The burning of rubber items such as tires or electrical wiring, plastic materials, house hold garbage, any type of construction material, and etc., must not be performed and is prohibited within Marshall County.

Marshall County Board of Supervisors, in consideration of the general health, safety, and welfare of the public, render it necessary for the Marshall County to adopt and incorporate the 2018 International Fire Code, thereby establishing minimum requirements which area consistent with nationally recognized good practice for providing a reasonable level of life safety and property protection from the hazards of fire, explosion or dangerous conditions. Marshall County adoption of the International Code (effective August 1st, 2014 and updated December, 2019) is consistent with the actions of the State of Mississippi.

The Marshall County Board of Supervisors hereby adopts the 2018 International Fire Code and all associated codes and standards, included by reference and set forth herein filed at the Fire Marshal’s Office.

The 2018 International Fire Code, and all associated codes, standards and appendices, with the exception of appendices A and J. Were adopted along with the following change to, Section 903 Automatic Sprinkler System

903.3.7 Fire Department Connections:

(a) Any building larger than one story, requiring a sprinkler system, shall have the Fire Department Connection (FDC) placed away from the building, no closer than one and one-half times the height of the building.  


Out Door Burns:

Fires set for the burning of agricultural wastes in the field and/or silvicultural wastes for forest management purposes must be permitted by the Mississippi Forestry Commission by calling 1-833-MFC-Fire or 1-833632-3472

Since Marshall County being rural in nature, open burning of natural vegetation is allowed for property management, and clean up purposes. This is only for natural vegetation such as, leaves, branches, grass, wildland management (Forestry, Wood Areas), or agricultural wastes (Agricultural Producing/Farming Fields).
